Sam “Buck” Tison, age 53, of Quitman, Georgia, passed away Tuesday, January 4, 2022 in Gainesville, Florida. He was born in Atlanta, to Sam J. and Corienne Tison but lived in Quitman and attended Brooks County High School.
Buck was very proud of his Army service, during which he served in Operation Desert Storm Persian Gulf War and Somalia. After his military service, he began his next career of being a truck driver, which he enjoyed. Buck was a ‘jack-of-all-trades’ and an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He especially loved the many adventures he had with his granddaughter, Avarie.
He is survived by his Wife: Melissa Tison, Mother: Corienne Tison, Quitman; Son: David-Tyler Jelks Tison, Quitman; Daughter: Jan (Michael) McBee, Jesup; Sisters: Alacia Meadows, Quitman and Laura Parks, Thomasville; Brother: Sammy (Bonnie) Tison, Quitman; Nephew: Josh (Heather) Tison, Quitman; and his pride and joy - his Granddaughter: Avarie McBee, Jesup; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his Father: Sam Jelks Tison, Sr.; Sister: Cynthia Mullinax; Grandmother: Corienne “Mamie” Cobb.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, January 8, 2022 at 2:00pm at the Family Farm 5700 Moultrie Highway, Quitman, Georgia.
