Martha ‘Martie’ Elizabeth Floyd Batts of Quitman passed away May 28, 2023.
Martie served as a nurse and an activities coordinator at the Presbyterian Home in Quitman for many years. She loved her job and enjoyed spending time with the residents.
Martie was an avid athlete in her high school days and her adult life. She played on the Brooks County Sheriff’s Office softball team. She also supported her children in their athletic endeavors. She loved spending time with her family and grandchildren. Martie was married to her husband L.T. (Sonny) Batts for 54 years. She was a loving, devoted, and committed wife, mother, and grandmother. She will be greatly missed, according to the family there are not enough words to express what a wonderful, precious person she was.
Martie is the daughter of the late William and Myrtle Floyd.
Martie is survived by her husband: L.T. Sonny Batts; daughters: Amy Brown, Nancy Beatty, and Belinda Krause; grandchildren: Indiana (Jackie) Thompson, Anthony Brown, Megan Beatty, Tristen Krause, Talen (Jennifer) Krause, and Tyler Krause; great-grandchildren: Noelle Thompson, Dakota Thompson, and Lucian Krause.
