Edward Jay Cowart, Sr.

Mr. Edward J. Cowart Sr., age 57 of Valdosta, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, September 26, 2020. Born in Valdosta, he grew up attending Lowndes County Schools before becoming a carpenter. He was known to be a hard-working man with an impeccable work ethic.  Mr. Cowart loved sports, was an avid Georgia Bulldogs fan, and enjoyed listening to the Eagles. He loved spending time with friends and family and will be greatly missed by those who loved him. He is survived by his son: Jay (Jenna) Cowart Jr. of Valdosta; father: Benny F. Cowart of Valdosta; sister: Bridgett (Julius) Rutherford of South Carolina; brothers: Benjamin Cowart of Gainesville, GA, Ben Cowart, Shelton Cowart, Terry Cowart, and Jerry Cowart all of Valdosta, and grandchildren: Tillman Cowart, Kyleigh Harris, Zaeliegh Harris and Harlow Robertson. He was preceded in death by his mother, Ethel Cowart. A celebration of his life will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, October 3, 2020 at Swilley Hill Church of God with Bishop Andy Pearson officiating.
