Richard G. Keen, Jr.

Richard Gilpon Keen, Jr., of Valdosta, passed away Saturday, September 10, 2022. He was born in Valdosta, Georgia to Richard Keen and Bernice Moore. Richard graduated from Lowndes High School.

Richard loved spending time with his children, fishing, and working on cars. He loved to help people and could always make them laugh.

Richard worked as an Engineer for Norfolk Southern Railroad for 16 years. He was Engineer Local Chairman for SMART Union.

Richard leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife: Mechelle Smith Keen; father: RichardG. Keen, Sr.; Mother: Bernice Moore; Sisters: Heather Campbell and Brooke Rowan; Brothers: Amy Brad Rowan and Josh Rowan. Children: Kaleb R., Emerson, and Harper Keen; Grandmother: Gail Reed; Father and Mother-In-Law: Mike and Sharon Smith; Sister-In-Law: Randi Smith; Brother-in-Law: Dalton Smith.

He was predeceased by his paternal grandparents: Carolyn Cowart and George G. Keen; his maternal grandfather: Robert Reed.

Richard also leaves behind best friends and mentor: Patrick Folsom, Richard Parry, and cousin, James Warren.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, September 15th at 2:00 pm at Warren

Funeral Services of Quitman Chapel, with Reverend Ross Cook officiating.  The family will receive friends beginning at 12:00 pm until the hour of service. Interment will follow at Riverview Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Valdosta, Georgia.
