Quitman

Corienne Elaine Tison (Cobb)

Corienne was born April 19, 1944 to Corienne Marie (Holcombe) and J. G. Cobb in Douglas, Georgia (Coffee County). Corienne passed away in Tallahassee, Florida on December 26, 2023. She was a lifelong member of First Presbyterian Church in Quitman, Georgia. She moved to Quitman, Georgia at a young age and resided at the family home place until her death. She attended Brooks County Schools playing basketball for the Lady Tigers as an outstanding guard all of her high school career. Corienne was a member of the graduating class of 1963.

Corienne grew up fascinated with all animals and owned cats, dogs, chickens, bunnys, dairy goats, horses and cattle all throughout her life. She loved riding her horses for leisure and for competition, especially barrel racing. She enjoyed working outside with cattle and was a lifetime member of the American Dairy Association, raising many species of dairy goats for milking, showing them and just having them on the farm. She enjoyed learning about and participating in homesteading, especially gardening and canning her home grown vegetables.

Corienne worked many sewing jobs over the years, but enjoyed all the coworkers at Ithaca Industries the longest. In her spare time you could catch her "wetting a hook" or sighting in her rifle in anticipation of "getting the big one"! Corienne was very keen on the Native American culture. She especially loved attending POW WOW's and ceremonies. After an early retirement she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and friends. She was an avid movie buff watching all the old westerns and series such as Bonanza and Ponderosa, but many did not know she watched things like Harry Potter and The Hobbit, which was her all-time favorite.

Corienne was preceded in death by both her parents, her sister, Barbara Ann Gandy, her beloved son Sam J Tison III (Buck) and her grandson, Josef Daniel Hilson.

She has survived by her daughter in law, Melissa Tison, Monticello, FL, her daughters, Laura Lee Parks (Levi), Thomasville, GA and Janice McBee (Michael), Jesup, GA. Her grandchildren David-Tyler Tison, Quitman, GA, Courtney Morris (Zack) St. Simons Island, GA and Avarie McBee, Jesup, GA. Many nephews and a great granddaughter, her faithful dog, Lucy and two close friends Dawn Higgins and Vicky Helmenstine.

Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced at a later date.
